WKYC Web StaffCLEVELAND -- High winds moving through the area overnight have caused power outages affecting thousands throughout Northeast Ohio.
Cleveland Heights and Akron were among the hardest hit earliest on, combining for at least 4,100 outages -- including at least 2,700 in Akron.
Since then, Akron power is coming back on, but Strongsville and North Royalton are seeing hundreds of outages.
FirstEnergy is attributing these outages to high winds knocking down power lines.
Crews are being dispatched to each report of damage as they receive them.
There is no timetable for when power will be restored to each area impacted.
