Northern Ohio is getting a little impatient while waiting to see the sun again. It has been 10 days now since we have been treated to seeing our nearest star for more than peeks and teases.
An inversion is the blame. High pressure and cold air high above is pushing down, while the Great Lakes are giving moisture and a wee-bit of heat that is pushing up.
The result? A thick, dense layer of clouds that is hard to break.
What we need is a change in the wind, and it looks like that change is coming late tonight and tomorrow.
The clouds will slowly begin to break up late tonight as the winds veer from the north to the east. This will take the Lakes and their moisture out of the picture and we'll be able to dry that inversion out.
That means a beautiful day for Election Day, although it will be feeling a little cool.
Midweek we'll be watching yet another storm system ride up the East Coast. This one will be no where near as strong as Hurricane Sandy was, but it will still cause many problems for the already-damaged areas along the Eastern Seaboard.
The storm (known as a Nor'easter) will NOT take the left turn that Sandy did, so we will NOT be getting any impact from it.
As a matter of fact, as the storm departs, it will pull warmer air our way, so the forecast will be dramatically improved by next weekend.
Tonight: Mostly to partly cloudy. Near 30 Wind: bec. SE 5 mph
Tuesday, Election Day: Partly cloudy to mostly sunny. Mid 40s Winds: SE 5-10 mph.
Wednesday: Partly sunny with a small chance (20%) of showers. Upper 40s
Thursday: Partly cloudy. Near 50
Friday: Partly cloudy. Near normal temperatures. Mid 50s
Saturday: Partly cloudy with even warmer!! Low/mid 60s
(We will be timing a cold front to come through on Sunday or Monday, that will bring us cooler weather...I am going with the Monday option.)
Sunday: Partly cloudy. More clouds during the afternoon hours. Mid 60s
Monday: Partly sunny with rain chances late day. Mid 60s
