LORAIN, Ohio -- Wednesday night in Lorain, a community came together to wish an emotional farewell to some american heroes headed to a dangerous part of the world to serve their country.
On Monday, Ohio National Guard Private Justin Cisar will say goodbye to his wife and one month-old daughter, when he is deployed to Afghanistan. Wednesday night, Pvt. Cisar, and about 100 other solders headed overseas, were the guests of honor at a sendoff by the Lorain Veteran's Council.
The servicemen were treated to a big dinner, fellowship and lots of thank yous. The family members they'll leave behind told us tonight was special.
Don Attie helped put this event together. He's a Vietnam veteran and didn't get a goodbye like this.
Sergeant Michael Wilson is 22 years old, has two kids and one on the way. It will be his first deployment to Afghanistan.
The soldiers expect to return home one year from now.
