Lake Effect Snow Warning: Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula counties thru 6AM Saturday
Predicting the chances for lake effect snow is rather easy.
Predicting where the actual lake effect snow bands, and therefore the heavier snow accumulations, will set up is much more difficult.
With a west wind, we typically find a couple good snowbands (and potentially a "mega band" of very intense snow) that shoot snow east into eastern Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula counties.
With a northwest wind, we typically get several snowbands that can put down some pretty good snow amounts farther inland, but they can be more widespread from Lorain county all the way to the PA state line.
Where we have good snow bands that sit and dump snow, we will have accumulations of 8"+ by Friday evening.
On the edges of the snowbands, we'll still get some accumulation, probably on the order of 2" to 5".
Outside of the snowbelt, flurries will still be hanging around and accumulations could reach up to 2".
Today: Lake effect snow. Otherwise mostly cloudy with flurries. Windy. Upper teens/near 20
Saturday: Widespread light snow. 1" to 3" accumulation. Breezy. Mid 20s
Sunday: Mostly cloudy with scattered lake effect snow, especially early. Upper 20s
Monday: Widespread light snow. 1" to 3" accumulation. Breezy. Near 30
Tuesday: Early lake effect snow showers. Mostly cloudy. Upper 20s/low 30s
Wednesday: Partly sunny. Low 30s
Thursday: Mostly cloudy. Mid 30s (Rain/snow mix moves in Thursday night)
