After two explosives rocked downtown Boston on Monday, authorities asked for any surveillance video around the scene of the crime.
Between street cameras and store security, the suspects were identified. In downtown Cleveland, more cameras are being added for the safety of our streets.
"Criminals are getting smarter, but technology is also getting smarter. So, it's hand-in-hand. For us to keep on top of our job, it's important to be proactive and keep expanding technology," says Larry Jones II, a project manager with the City of Cleveland.
There are 49 cameras constantly watching the downtown city streets and more being installed every year. Most recently, surveillance cameras were put up around the West Side Market area in Ohio City.
"One of the things we wanted to do was kind of boost security presence of the market. We know that it is a vital artery of the city, so we wanted to provide extra security there," says Jones.
Now, the city will start expanding surveillance to neighborhood streets, where extra protection is needed.
