Sandusky: Search called off for missing kayakers

ERIE COUNTY -- The search for the father-daughter kayakers missing since Saturday has ended without them being found.

The Erie County Sheriff's Department says the search has been called off.

The Erie County Sheriff says Jon Francis and his daughter, Viola, went missing the evening of April 6 near Crystal Rock.

The U.S. Coast Guard suspended its search Sunday night.

Authorities were alerted in the early morning hours of April 7.

The kayaks were found just north of Crystal Rock on the Ottawa County side of the bay. A pair of boots was also recovered. The two were reportedly not wearing life vests.
