STRONGSVILLE -- It appears that after 8 weeks, the Strongsville Education Association and the Board of Education have reached a tentative agreement.
Members of the SEA and the BOE began talking with a mediator around 1 p.m. Friday afternoon.
The Strongsville Board of Education will not release any details of the settlement until both sides ratify the agreement.
"The past eight weeks have been difficult, but the healing process begins today," said David Frazee, BOE president.
"We want to thank the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service regional office in Independence for their efforts. We also appreciate the work of the negotiation teams."
Tracy Linscott, President of the Strongsville Education Association, says the past few weeks have been hard, but they went into today's meeting hopeful.
Linscott tells Channel 3's Jennifer Lindgren that they even though the tentative deal still has to be ratified, they would not be going back to their members for a vote if they didn't think it would pass.
They will vote on the tentative agreement Saturday afternoon.
She says details still have to be worked out regarding when the teachers will return to the classroom, but says that could come as early as Monday morning.
