Cirrus clouds are thin clouds high in the atmosphere that are comprised of ice crystals.
Sunlight can shine right through this "veil" of cloud cover, but those tiny ice crystals can act to reflect some of the sun's energy right back into space. That means we don't get a full-power warming effect and the temperatures here on the earth's surface can be held back somewhat.
High, thin clouds will be with us for the next few days as an upper level storm system passes to our south. As of today it looks like we'll be staying dry (with the exception of sprinkles) for the next week.
Tonight: Some high clouds. Pleasant, light breeze. Low/mid 50s
Friday: Veiled sunshine (high, thin clouds). Still plenty warm and a bit breezy. Mid 70s
Saturday: Veiled sunshine. Low 70s
Sunday: Mostly cloudy to partly sunny. Upper 60s
Monday: Mostly cloudy with a slight chance for sprinkles. Upper 60s
Tuesday: Mostly cloudy with a chance for sprinkles. Upper 60s
Wednesday: Partly sunny to partly cloudy. Near 70
Thursday: Partly sunny to partly cloudy. Low/mid 70s
