The Facebook page, Save the Plain Dealer, has posted that an "unspecified number of workers" in advertising, marketing, information technology and finance will be laid off beginning Wednesday night.
A source inside the paper confirmed the posting to WKYC.
The posting says that similar layoffs in the newsroom will happen "at a later date."
Employees were told to go home and wait for a phone call telling them if their jobs have been eliminated.
Last year the parent company of the paper announced plans to layoff 58 employees in the newsroom in 2013. The figure will increase company-wide.
The company has also announced a reduction in home delivery to three days a week beginning later this year as part of cost cutting moves. The paper itself will still publish seven days a week and will be available at retail locations.
