PERKINS TOWNSHIP -- A police sergeant was involved in a crash Sunday while enroute to an emergency call.
The accident happened around 2:52 p.m. near Columbus Avenue and London Road.
Sgt. Jeff Musser was headed south on Columbus Avenue with his lights and sirens on. That's when the driver of a car, travelling in front of the officer in the same direction, attempted to pull into a driveway directly in the path of the officer.
Sgt. Musser's police cruiser crashed into the car and both vehicles went off the side of the road.
The driver of the car, Mark Weikle, 50, was taken to Firelands Hospital with a leg injury.
Sgt. Musser was also taken to Firelands Hospital where he was treated and released.
No citations were issued and alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol accident reconstruction team is assisting in the investigation.
