CLEVELAND -- One person died in a shooting on Cleveland's east side Thursday night.
Police say the shooting occured at the Park Place Apartments, close to 10:31 p.m., in the area of East 105th Street and Ashbury Avenue.
Sources at the scene say the incident started as a call to police for domestic violence.
The man involved with the alleged violence came running out of the building and a woman reportedly screamed after him that he had a gun.
Sources at the scene say the head of security for the building, an off-duty police officer, allegedly shot and killed the man after the man reportedly waved a gun at him.
The officer involved did not work for the Cleveland Police Department, officials say.
The Cleveland Police Use Of Deadly Force Investigation Unit is at the scene, along with the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner.
No other information was available.
