CLEVELAND -- Police, fire and EMS responded to Euclid Beach Park for a water rescue Saturday evening.
They first received a call for a swimmer in distress came in around 4:35 p.m.
Fire crews say two people were missing in the water.
Witnesses say a 23-year-old man entered the water, attempting to help a boy in distress.
According to MetroParks Rangers, a 10-year-old was found by a good Samaritan who heard the calls for help. He ran down to the beach and pulled the boy out of the water in less than 5 minutes. Rescue crews arrived and took the boy to Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital.
Over an hour after the initial call, dive teams pulled a 23-year-old man from the water. Eyewitnesses say the man is the boyfriend of the 10-year-old's mother.
The man was taken to Euclid Hospital by rescue crews. At this time, his condition is not known.
The area where the boy was swimming does not have a lifeguard on duty.
Both the Cleveland Fire Department and Cleveland MetroParks Rangers had dive teams at the scene.
The U.S. Coast Guard also responded to assist with search efforts.
