TALLMADGE, Ohio -- Tallmadge Police say the Summit County Medical Examiner has identified the adult human remains found Saturday as missing woman Wendy Ralston.

Lt. Ron Williams tells Channel 3 News that Wendy Ralston and her 5-year-old son were reported missing Aug. 7. Ralston lived on Stone Creek Drive, where the bodies were located.

"Although some of the remains did appear to be of a very young person, the son has yet to be identified," Williams said.

There will be a press conference at Tallmadge City Hall Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Tallmadge Police to further discuss their findings.

Ohio BCI Crime Scene and Cyber Crime units helped Tallmadge Police search her home and backyard Monday, towing two vehicles into evidence.

Neighbors say one of them belonged to a man who lived with Ralston and was seen being questioned by police Saturday.

Stow Municipal Court records show Ralston was to be evicted from the duplex Friday, Aug. 16.

"We hadn't seen the little boy in a few weeks," said neighbor Cara Butcher. "He was always on his bike or his little big wheels and stuff. (Ralston) was always out with him. She seemed to be doing really good."

Tallmadge police questioned neighbors last week after Ralston and her son were reported missing Wednesday.

The Summit County Medical Examiner is performing autopsies on the remains of two bodies that were found in woods behind the home.

Butcher's son, 12-year-old Grant Geer, says he and friends had noticed a smell while playing in the woods behind the homes.

"We were walking through the woods and (my friend) smelled something kind of odd. He said, 'Hey what's that smell?' I said, 'It's probably a dead animal.' He said, 'No it's not. That's not what dead animals smell like,' " said Geer.

Williams said the bodies were badly decomposed, appearing to have been in the area for two weeks before they were discovered.

The medical examiner confirmed to Channel 3 late Monday that the bodies were wrapped in bedding. He was hopeful that he could complete the autopsies by Monday evening.

Police say the bodies were discovered Saturday in the 500 block of Stone Creek Drive.

Police did not speculate on the cause of death but said they were called by a woman who went to the house to check up on her daughter.

"It's very scary and especially we don't have answers as to what happened. Should we still be nervous? Is there somebody out there?" said Butcher.

Neither victim's identity has been determined.
