INDEPENDENCE, Ohio -- Both sides in the Strongsville teacher strike met Wednesday night, in their first meeting since the strike began Monday.
Both sides walked out after 90 minutes, no closer to resolving the strike.
"I want our school district to be whole again," said John Krupinski, Strongsville School Superintendent. "There was no movement on substantive issues. Their position would lead the district on a path of fiscal irresponsibility. We need to be fiscally responsible."
But Tracy Linscott, president of the Strongsville Education Association, blamed the superintendent for the impasse.
"There was really not a lot of discussion. They're not really interested in making a counter-proposal to our counter[proposal], so therefore, there really is no need for any meetings to be set up," said Linscott.
The two sides agreed to meet with a federal mediator at the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service offices on Oak Tree Blvd. in Independence. Both sides agreed to meet, not negotiate, to see if serious negotiations were possible.
The teacher strike enters its fourth day on Thursday.
