By the time the morning commuters finally made their way off the InnerBelt bridge -- this is what they ran into -- more traffic.

On I-90 -- eastbound lanes are reduced to just two. 

Plus -- East 22nd street and Carnegie exits are both closed -- leaving Chester to back up.

On I-71 into the city -- the same problem. 

The closures stalled traffic not only around the InnerBelt, but also in surrounding side streets far removed from the construction project.

The lane closures are all part of the InnerBelt bridge construction project. While crews build a second bridge -- drivers are forced to sit in traffic.

The only alternative route ODOT suggests is to use I-490 to 77. Many drivers took the advice, and then wished they hadn't.
