ODOT: I-90 from East 55th to Dead Man's Curve to close

CLEVELAND -- The Ohio Department of Transportation says it has shut down all lanes of I-90 westbound at East 72nd Street due to high water on the highway from the lake.

Starting at 4:30am Tuesday both lanes of Interstate 90 will close from East 55th to Dead Man's Curve. 

Wind driven waves have been crashing against the breakwall for hours as Superstorm Sandy pushes further inland after making landfall in New Jersey.

Until the 4:30am shut-down Drivers are being detoured via East 72nd Street to St. Clair to East 55th Street back to I-90 westbound.

ODOT says crews are monitoring the situation and will reopen the highway when the situation is safe.
