The Ohio Department of Transportation District 12 will have crews out this evening and through the morning or later, as needed, in Cuyahoga, Lake and Geauga counties as a result of forecasted temperatures and lake effect snow.
ODOT District 12 will be staffed as follows:
- Cuyahoga County -- 19 snowplows will be on the roads tonight as needed. After midnight, a crew of 29 snowplows will be on the roads through the morning or later as needed.
- Lake County -- 9 snowplows will be on the roads tonight as needed. After midnight, a crew of 13 snowplows will be on the roads through the morning or later as needed.
- Geauga County - 8 snowplows will be on the roads tonight as needed. After midnight, a crew of 13 snowplows will be on the roads through the morning or later as needed.
ODOT's trucks have passed 150-point inspections to ensure that the plows are ready for battle.
ODOT will make history this winter by being the first state in the nation to use green-colored strobe lights on its snowplow trucks. Studies show green lights are more easily detected by the human eye than other colors.
The new green lights, along with new white lights, will be added to the existing amber lights creating a color combination unique to ODOT.
