Solon: Suspect wanted by FBI in standoff with police

SOLON, Ohio -- A man wanted by the FBI is refusing to surrender to police, prompting a standoff in Solon Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.

Police and federal agents have been out at the home on Liberty Road since before 11 p.m.

Liberty Road is closed to through traffic from Aurora Road to Woodbury Drive.

SWAT forces, as well as Solon and Bainbridge police officers are assisting the FBI.

The suspect, Alex Spirikaitis, is wanted for embezzlement. He is involved with the Taupa Lithuanian Credit Union on E. 185th Street in Cleveland.

The National Credit Union Association closed this credit union Friday, said FBI Special Agent Vicki Anderson.

Solon Police advise residents to avoid the area.

On Twitter, Solon Police said that residents on Liberty Road near Woodbury Drive are asked to look for police officers in the area to assist them leaving the area through the closed road.

No other information has been released.
