The heat and humidity are combining to make it feel pretty nasty in northern Ohio.
Average high temperatures this time of year are in the low 80s. We've made upper 80s and low 90s for the last several days.
While that may not be altogether out of the ordinary, the oppressive humidity isn't typical for us.
Dew point temperatures (the temperature at which dew will form if the current air mass is cooled) are soupy in the 70s. On the comfort chart, 50s and below would be considered comfortable, 60s humid and 70s sultry. Today's dew points were in the upper 70s (some of the highest readings we've seen).
When extreme humidity and excessive heat combine, it doesn't allow your body to cool as efficiently. That makes you feel hotter. This is what is known as the heat index - how hot it feels.
Heat index temperatures were in the upper 90s today with some readings at 100-plus.
Once widespread heat index readings of 100+ are possible, we'll have a heat advisory issued. This will likely happen later this week.

Sunday: Mostly sunny to partly cloudy. Upper 70s/low 80s
Monday: Partly cloudy. Low 80s
Tuesday: Partly cloudy. Low 80s
